Eve Helitzer believes that the people entering into a marriage and the people who have determined to end a marriage are in the best position to make decisions about their own lives, and in many instances the lives of their children.

Agreements that serve the interests, goals, and needs of each adult and their child(ren) can be achieved when people are focused and willing to engage in thoughtful, pragmatic, and practical discussions.

Eve Helitzer’s mediation, law, and collaborative divorce and matrimonial practice focuses on the main aspects of divorce and family law, including prenuptial or post-nuptial agreements, divorces (custody, visitation, support, and equitable distribution), modifications, legal separations, and relocation matters. She regularly mediates custody and property disputes involving unmarried parties.

Previously a litigator with extensive courtroom experience, Eve now focuses her practice on mediating matters or collaboratively resolving matters as a divorce practitioner.

Eve’s alternative dispute resolution focused practice works with financial neutrals, mediators, parent coordinators, therapists, accountants, and other professionals to assist families in resolving their differences, be they custody and/or financial disputes outside of Court.

Eve focuses on advising clients, discerning and distilling clients interests and goals, advocating for those interests and goals to be met in the resolution of their matter, generating options that address those interests and goals, and working with her clients to effectively reach resolutions that are sustainable for her clients and their families.

Eve believes that an educated and informed client is in the best position determine the option that best suits the needs of their family, determine their interests and goals to meet their own and their families needs, and make informed decisions.

Prior to opening her own mediation, collaborative divorce and family law practice, Ms. Helitzer worked in both matrimonial boutique practices, as well as in the matrimonial practice group in midsize NYC law firm. She has worked on high net-worth cases involving long-term marriages and complex asset and valuation issues to short-term marriages with relatively few assets.

Ms. Helitzer has been named a Metro Rising Star by New York Super Lawyers magazine, a supplement in the New York Times for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 for Family Law.

Ms. Helitzer is a member of the Matrimonial Law Committee, Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and Legislative Committee of the New York Women’s Bar Association. She is a mediator member of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York, and an attorney member of the New York Association of Collaborative Divorce Professionals.
